Lazy Man’s Lunch

½ to 1 lb. ground beef (turkey, chicken, buffalo, etc.)
½ onion, or to taste
14 oz can tomatoes or tomato-based offering
6 oz can tomato paste
1 lb. pasta, ideally a short variety like rotini or macaroni
2½ c. water
2 Tbsp soy sauce
oil of your choice

  • Sauté diced onion.
  • Brown beef among clarified onions, then drain
  • dump all other ingredients into rice cooker
  • top rice cooker with beef and onion

It recalls memories for those of us raised on Chef Boyardee and Franco-American canned offerings, but may be somewhat less toxic. The remaining fat from the meat provides sufficient oil. Although the water initially appears low, this water along with what shall leech from the tomatoes creates a pasta which is by no means al dente.
