Six dollars in toll-free calls later, I simply had to go to: http://www.apple.com/macosx/uptodate where I, somehow, have to download a form, convert it to paper and mail it in to recieve the Operating System I was promised. What? I mean, it is not 1990. God help me, I don’t know how I’m going to convert a form to paper, because I live in the twenty-first century.
Perhaps I should have my squire deliver the form to South Bend, Indiana on horseback.
To get what I ordered will cost an additional ten dollars. Oh, and the itemized sales receipt which never arrived possibly by design.
That is, I’m stuck with this fucking nightare as I now have no additional funds to acquire a computer.
On the other hand, the kext I was depending upon to salvage my entire archive simply tells me the partitions exist. Since I know they exist, that isn’t helpful. As it turns out, in Ubuntu HFS+ is read-only, by read-only they mean look at the directory.
On the mouse front, “primary button” and “secondary button” were somehow flipped before delivery. Aside from that terminology I haven’t seen since Microsoft claimed to invent the idea around the time of Windows 95b, I cannot believe I struggled along thinking somehow this thing should “just work”. I honestly don’t know where I ever got that idea. One visit to the Mouse and Keyboard control panel and it’s attending anti-future-shock reaction and the mouse was good to go.
