I spent a minute considering purchasing goodies for the “new” computer. Specifically a DVD burner and 320 GB disk.

I nearly hit the order button when I worked out that I can’t mount another 3.5″ disk drive without pulling something. I need more rails for the 5.25″ bays, or another 3.5″ cage which I can’t work out how to find. Such a thing is not listed on the Chenming website, and I don’t know where else to go. Still thinking, which leads to trouble as you know.

Anyway, for an additional two dollars I can get a case badge. You know, that sticker which fits into the 1″ square on all the generic PC cases typically filled with an assembler’s logo. I have three choices.

  • an image of Tux, the linux penguin on white
  • the Ubuntu logo on beige, oddly
  • a reproduction OEM “AMD Athlon MP” logo badge not unlike the ones AMD passed out several years ago
